Melon Sorbet

An easy-to-make cooling hot weather refresher that delivers carbs and micro-nutrients.

After a hard day of racing on a Grand Tour, the heat, altitude and exertion can really limit a riders' appetite. EF Pro Cycling Chef Owen Blandy and Head Nutritionist Will Girling feed the riders this lightweight Melon Sorbet to keep them cool while delivering carbs and micro-nutrients.

Servings: 6

Preparation Time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 500g Chopped or Shaved Ice
  • 2 Medium Cantaloupe Melons (peeled and diced)
  • 3 Egg Whites
  • 2 Peaches (peeled, pitted and diced)
  • 1 Lemon or Lime Juice + Zest
  • 2 Mint Springs (Chopped)
  • 150g Granulated Sugar

Directions

  1. Add Egg Whites to Granulated Sugar. Blend together.
  2. Add the diced fruit. Blend together.
  3. Add Crushed Ice. Blend together.
  4. Place in freezer.
  5. Stir every 2-3 hours until frozen.
  6. Serve chilled.
